Why Scourie

Why visit Scourie

Scourie is a small village between Ullapool and Durness on the NW coast of Scotland. It is surrounded by beautiful beaches, where you can spend time admiring the views, kayaking, fishing or just relaxing. It has many lochs and is a hot spot for fly fishing. It offers fantastic walks within the village or a short drive can take you to some great mountain trails. Scourie also has some of the most interesting geology in the whole of Europe, some of the local rock is believed to be between 2-3 billion years old. The geology gives way to some really interesting landscapes and amazing waterfalls.

If you are a bird watcher or interested in wildlife then Scourie is an excellent spot to relax and spend time looking for the local sea eagles, golden eagles, rare birds and the other wonderful wildlife that the highlands have to offer. Pine marten, deer, otters, seals, dolphins, are all common sightings.

Scourie is in the ideal location to use as a base to visit the wider NW highlands. It is perfectly situated and in a short drive you can be on some of best beaches in the UK. It is also a perfect stopping point on the NC 500 being less busy than the surrounding villages.

If all you want to do is just relax, watch some amazing sunsets and get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, then Scourie is a perfect hideaway to recharge the batteries.
